The airride is controlled by moving the ashtray knob up and down, to make sure no holes were drilled in or under the dash. Dashboard is unmolested, no extra holes or switches. Doorpanels are Beryl Green specific and in nice condition. The hand brake cover is getting repro'd nowadays. The only items missing are two pieces of green carpet and the hand brake cover. The running board mats have been replaced with a very high quality reproduction as the originals were gone for 90%. ![]() ![]() On the outside, also the original colour coded wing beading is still present. The biggest part of the colour coded items like floormats, hand brake, gear stick, gear stick rubber - all in green - are in the car. I had the original Soft Beige leatherette - optional in Beryl Green bugs only - stitched together again with new padding in the seats. ![]() Luckily only the seams were loose, the fabric was mostly intact. The interior of a desertfind car is often dried out, this was also the case with this car. Door seals, window seals, brake hoses, fuel hoses - everything rubber has been replaced. I have replaced all of them, all but the rear window rubber, as there is a small hole under the rubber that needs to be fixed first. The downside of being in that dry climate is that all rubbers are getting brittle. The bug is equiped with original Albert swanneck mirrors, a USA license plate frame with a cool text and that's it. Can be returned to stock in a day, not a single hole was drilled for the install. Besides the lowering and wheels, the car is very original, even the bumpers have a VW logo. Almost all colour coded items are still present today. The outside of the car is also in original paint, albeit a bit faded with loads of patina! Beryl Green (or Beryllgrün in German) is a special colour available in 1961, 19, where Volkswagen used special colour coded throughout the car in green. Spare wheel well, heater channels, rear corners, all still in shiny original green paint. Because of the dry climate, the car is very nice bodywise, as you can see in the pics. The car was found in the Death Valley in California, where it was probably parked in the 70s. Stay tuned for more coverage and car spotlights from the floor of the Las Vegas Convention Center.Patina 1963 Beryl Green Deluxe on airrideįor sale is my Patina 1963 Beryl Green Deluxe in original paint on airride. SEMA is all about creativity, and this Chevy is absolutely overflowing with it. The interior shares the same attention to detail, with custom leather stitching in the style of a baseball glove and bench seating all around for maximum cruising cred’. Rather than some sort of billet wheels, the Bel Air sits on simple wide whites with chrome-trimmed steelies hiding Wilwood disc brakes. Needless to say, the Chevy is riding on air and packing a number of parts from RideTech suspension. In contrast to the weathered body, the engine bay is spotless, featuring a ton of custom metalwork and contrasting paint. The scoop is functional too, helping feed air directly to the car’s Vortech-supercharged LS3 crate motor from GM Performance. There are some other cool exterior touches as well, like leather straps over the trunk and this old school metal scoop on the passenger side fender. Then there’s the body, which has the appearance of a car pulled directly from the junkyard. It’s unique, and it gives the ’56 a look all its own. One of the first things you notice about this car is that it’s built out of the four-door hardtop body style rather than the much more popular two-door. That brings me to Bela, a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air built by Retro Designs Speed & Custom in Concord, North Carolina, and displayed in the Mobil 1 booth. The ’55-’57 Chevy has always been one of the most popular platforms for racers and customizers, and it’s great fun to see how builders go about creating examples to stand out from the crowd. Another car you can always count on seeing is the good old Tri-Five Chevy. The 1960s Mustang is one, as is the first generation Camaro. Each year at the SEMA Show, there are a number of platforms you’re guaranteed to find in large numbers. ![]()
